Overn Dunbar, born June 4, 1956 in Augusta, Georgia was the seventh child of the late Nellie Pearl Pryor. Overn entered into rest at the Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center on February 23, 2021. Graveside service will be held on Thursday March 4, 2021 at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. Viewing will be held on Tuesday March 2, 2021 from 12 to 5 PM. Overn completed Elementary School at Ursula Collins and was a 1974 graduate of T. W. Josey High School. While at Josey he became a member of the high school concert and marching bands as an accomplished trombone player. He was a self-taught piano player and music was always a constant throughout his life. Following high school and after being accepted to attend Ohio State University he pursued an engineering course of study. The desire for adventure however and the pursuit of happiness lead him to join the U S Navy. It is said "join the Navy and see the world". Overn was proud to have served his country and the country showed its gratitude by providing sustaining benefits once his health began to decline. The skills he developed while in the Navy allowed him to qualify for various technical support and customer service jobs at several major companies mostly headquartered in Atlanta, GA. He leaves to celebrate his memory two sisters Betty Sanders, Hephzibah, GA and Dr, Bernice D. (Ervin) Smith, Gahanna, OH; three brothers, George N. Dunbar, Aminifu Askari and Thomas E. (Freda) Polite, all of Augusta, GA; a great aunt, Sarah Grant, Bridgeport, CT; Ruth Yarbray and Vandella Bennett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
