SFC Ret. Ferdinand "Fred" James Fortun III entered into rest on Friday, February 3, 2017. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Saint Louis Cemetery #3, New Orleans, LA with full military honors. Survivors include his wife, Irene Fortun; nine children, Patrice Fortun, Kenneth Fortun, Pamela Fortun, Fredrick Fortun, Tacoma, WA, Craig Bazile, Adam Bazile, Kiley Bazile Lewis, Dominic Bazile, Louisiana, Paige Bazile, Georgia; 19 grandchildren (2 preceded him in death), and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia M. (Art) Martin, Lorenza (Gilbert) Johnson and Edna Fortun, Louisiana; brother, Lawrence V. Fortun, Harvey, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you send donations to the Girls and Boys Club of Augusta or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
