Betty Jean Harris, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and trailblazing educator, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the age of 86. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church. A proud native of Augusta, Georgia, Betty dedicated her life to uplifting others through compassion, education, and service. As the Founder of Tender Care Training Center in Augusta, Betty transformed her vision into a legacy—providing countless individuals with the skills and support needed to pursue meaningful careers in healthcare. Her unwavering commitment to graciousness and inclusiveness made her a cherished community leader who served as a mentor to many. Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband Augustus (Gus) D. Harris, daughter, Jedonia A. Lindsey (Bobby) and granddaughter, Atiya Nuri Harris. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Erick V. Harris (Belen); eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever remember her warmth, grace, and giving spirit.
