Mother Catherine Johnson, "Jake's Wife", entered rest on September 19, 2025. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Catherine Johnson was born on October 30, 1956, to Geraldine Levine in Jersey City, New Jersey. At the age of one, Catherine was legally adopted by Geraldine's older sister Alethia Grimes and her husband Solomon Grimes and moved to Charleston South Carolina. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine Levine, Alethia Grimes and Solomon Grimes; her siblings, George Greene, Kenneth Levine, Marion Levine, George Levine, Michael Levine and Lenora Levine. Mrs. Catherine Johnson is survived by her husband, Jake Johnson; children, Kitisha RayShaun Raynor, Collisa Latimore, Jamel Gibson, Catina (James) Funchess, Tanita (Cordell) Hall; honorary children, Shuwanye Jimperson, Malesha Gantt, Vonetta Greene, Ulissa Ledbetter; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother, Gary Levine and Gregory Levine; sisters, Evangelist Michelle Easterling Levine and Rosalyn Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends.
