Deacon Sammy D. Stephenson entered into rest on Thursday, January 1, 2026.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Greater Young Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Deacon Stephenson was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Cook, father, Sammy Stephenson Sr., son, Michael Stephenson, and sisters: Claudia Lucille Walker, Sandra Lee Byrd, and Deborah Laverne Allen. He is survived by his wife, Alma Stephenson, sons, Kelvin (Renee) Stephenson and Nathan (Windy) Stephenson, sister, Patricia Ann Toles, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, bonus daughter, Toshua White, daughter in law, Sonja Stephenson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Deacon Stephenson may be viewed on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
