First Lady Bernice W. Bennett entered into rest on Friday, June 5, 2026. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at B. A. Williams Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Walker Memorial Park. She is survived by her loving husband, Pastor Sammie Bennett; sons, Lamont Williams, Sammie Bennett Jr.; sisters, Ruthie Kelly, Margie James- Brown, Rosa Williams; brother, Arthur (Maud) Johnson; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be a viewing on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
