Francene Reese Hankerson, a true reflection of warmth and wisdom, began her journey on Wednesday, February 4, 1948, in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Covenant Baptist Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Francene was brought into the world by John C. and Gertrude B. Reese. In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025, Francene answered the Lord's call, leaving behind a legacy that will echo through the lives she touched. Francene accepted the Lord and was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church in her youth. In her later years she joined Franklin Covenant Baptist Church, located in Hephzibah, Georgia. She served on the hospitality ministry, FCBC Sanctuary Choir and beautification ministry. Her hobbies included music and singing, many forms of crafting, flower arranging, and all types of home décor. She loved and found joy in spending time with her friends and grandchildren. Francene was educated in the Richmond County School system and was a proud 1966 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. She was employed by the Kendall Company and retired in 2013, after 41 years of service. Left to cherish her beautiful spirit and precious memories are her loving daughters, Gheisler (Alonzo) Butler of Graniteville, South Carolina and Shannon A. Mills of Augusta, Georgia; a devoted big brother, Charles C. Reese of Pontevedra, Florida; two devoted grandchildren, Zia I. Butler and Brennan C. Mills; niece, Kiki Katz (Stephen), nephews, Lawrence Stubbs (Natasha) and Michael Moore; lifetime best friends, Barbara (Bobbie) Utley, LaVonya Robinson, Alberta Stokes; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
