Mr. Joe E. Johnson entered into rest on Monday, July 15, 2024. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Historic Thankful Baptist Church. Burial will be at Walker Memorial Park. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School in 1960. After graduating, he attended Clark College in Atlanta. He returned to Augusta and enrolled in Paine College, where he completed his Bachelor's degree in education in 1966 and later earned his Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Georgia in 1974, graduating Cum Laude. Mr. Johnson was a retired educator and guidance counselor. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Clara; son, Trevler (Carla) Johnson; daughter, Larenda (Wayne) Parham; a special nephew, David Polite; grandchildren, Noah, Micah, Amber, Thomas, Skylar; three special nieces, Lia, Laila, and Toni; two brothers, Richard (Linda) Johnson and Melvin Johnson; two sisters, Brenda (Rube) Hankinson and Earnestine Howard; five brothers-in-law, Willie Edward (Edna) Polite, Shedrick Polite, Marshall Polite, Lamar Polite, Albright Polite; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Stephens, Josie Coleman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Mr. Johnson may be viewed on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
