Mrs. Benzie Mays Trapp entered into rest on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at B. A. Williams Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 50 years, Mr. Alpha Trapp, and five children, Kathy Swilley, Lydia Howard, Debra Hudson, Gary Trapp, and Sherna Trapp. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Maurice Howard, Reginald Elder II, Ashton Hudson, Lindsey Caldwell-Swilley, Brittany Swilley, Justin Trapp, Ryan Foreman, and Ryleigh Foreman; great-grandchildren, Maurice Howard Jr. ("Mojo"), Sydney Elder, Miles Hudson, Vanessa Hudson, and Olivia King. Though she will be deeply missed, Mrs. Benzie Mayes Trapp's spirit will forever live on—in the stories we tell, the flowers that bloom, and the meals shared in her honor.
