Mrs. Mary Brown entered in to rest on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mary was a retired Assistant Principal in the Richmond County School System. She was instrumental in the rise of standardized test scores in English and Math at her Elementary School. Her staff adored her for the thoughtful and steady guidance she provided. Mary embraced the role of being a mentor and changemaker. She contributed extensively to a book that made the Amazon Bestseller list. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Mathis Sr. Mary's legacy of love and kindness will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind: her loving husband, Sylvester Brown; children, Sabrina (Keith) Hagood, Marlon (Veronica) Brown and Antonio Brown; grandson, Ricky Mathis Jr.; four grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Bertha F. Sutton; nephew, Pierre (Denise) Patrick; niece, Kimberly Sutton and a host of other relatives and friends.
