Roderick L.
Grant
May 24, 1976 — Jan 24, 2026
Roderick L. Grant, devoted father, son, nephew, and friend peacefully transitioned January 24, 2026, surrounded by family. Memorial service will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
Born with a generous heart and a determined spirit, Roderick lived a life defined by kindness, quiet strength, and true love for family and friends.
Roderick spent many years battling kidney disease, meeting each challenge with resilience, faith, and determination. He never complained and always believed he would be completely healed. Through it all, his faith increased and he continued to express the goodness of GOD.
He was a 1994 graduate from A.R. Johnson Health Careers and Engineering High School. Roderick received a full scholarship to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU); he graduated May 1999 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
After graduation, Roderick worked for Norfolk Southern Railway as an engineer in various roles during his 20-year career.
Roderick was an avid sports fan; he spent most weekends cheering on his favorite teams: Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Braves, and his all-time favorite- the Pittsburg Steelers. He also loved fantasy football. He spent days planning his team; his team won the league a couple of times.
He is survived by his sons: DeAndre L. Grant of Wyncote, PA, and Roman X. Grant of Fayetteville, GA; daughter, Jordan B. Grant of Fayetteville, GA; father, Melvin (Jacqueline) Grant III of Augusta, GA; co-parent, Anasha P. Grant of Fayetteville, GA; sisters: Shanika Brooks of Eastpointe, MI and Ashlee Williams of Augusta, GA; brothers: Melvin Grant, III of Atlanta, GA, Brandon Cummings and Christopher Williams of Augusta, GA; precious nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Avis C. Williams, maternal grandparents, Fred and Dorothy Cummings, and paternal grandparents, Melvin and Mary Grant.
Special thanks to the Rod Squad (Dad, MJ, Auntie Vette, and Uncle Pat), the medical staff at U.S. Renal Aiken Dialysis Center, and the medical professionals at Wellstar MCG.
