SFC (Ret.) Maxie L. Simpkins entered into rest on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Broadway Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Louise Brent; and his brother, George Chapman. Maxie's love and light will continue to shine through those he leaves behind. His memory is cherished by his wife of fifty nine years, Johnnie Mae Simpkins; his children, Wendell (Karen) Brooks and Creighton Simpkins; his grandchildren, Andrew Brooks and Creighshonda Simpkins; his sisters, Birdie Chapman, Harvey Chapman and Jean Smith; his brother, Leon (Louise) Smith; Cousin Raymond Smith and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friend God children Daniel Brooks, David Rolling, Kesha Howell. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the start of service.
