Mr. Willie James Gowdy entered into rest on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 8:15 am. He was born on December 23, 1957, Augusta, Ga to James Gowdy and Nellie Ware Gowdy. He was affectionately called "Bozo" by his family and close friends. Willie was educated in the Richmond County School System and was a graduate of the 1977 class of T.W. Josey High School. Willie confessed his life for Christ at an early age at the Silver Bluff Baptist Church in Beech Island, S.C. He was employed at the CVS Pharmacy Warehouse in shipping and receiving before his declining health. He loved fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Ware Gowdy, and his brother, Michael A. Gowdy. Willie leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Crystal Gowdy of Hephzibah, Ga; father, James Gowdy of Augusta, Ga; one sister, Elaine (James) Reynolds of North Augusta, SC; two brothers, Ricky Axel (Mekala) Gowdy of Las Vegas, NV and Randy Bryant (Billye) Gowdy of Atlanta, Ga; one grandson, Kingston Harris of Hephzibah, Ga; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at B. A. Williams Memorial Chapel.
